Back satin has a pebbled texture on the reverse side, giving it a slightly puffy (crepe-like) feel, and can be used on both sides.
Shantung originally uses silk slub yarn for the weft.
Back satin shantung is made by using slub yarn in the weft and creating a double weave with back satin.
It has a bit of stiffness, making it suitable for costumes as well as interior items like cushion covers.
