Poplin is a plain-weave fabric with a higher warp (vertical) thread density than the weft (horizontal) threads, creating subtle ridges across the fabric.
The warp threads are the same or slightly finer than the weft, resulting in a flexible fabric with a slight sheen.
With a moderate thickness, it is ideal for clothing such as skirts and pants.
